I had a chance to get acquainted with the interior of the fashionable Shop & Bar Denis Simachev, and along with Denis Simachev’s atr.
Due to my study, I had to understand the nature of this crazy concentration of everything in this place, but mainly my task was to draw attention to interior details, search for unconventional materials finishes, find some interesting constructive solutions.The interior reflects the mood and tastes of its creator, because Denis found all the decisions about bar and shop design by himself, and also he was engaged in search and purchase furnishings and. According to his friends and colleagues he have been very passionate about this process.
About the designer:
Before this project, I knew that there is a designer that paints not only clothing, but also phones, cars and computers with "Khokhloma" ornament. At first glance, the idea was very simple: take an existing image and apply it to everything that comes to your mind, without passing it through yourselves, without converting and creating something new, but only just trying to give new life to the traditional ornaments, applying them to non-traditional surfaces and materials.
But now, when I understand and explore Dennis’ approach to the design I realized that I was very close to his ideology: people who were born in Russia, can think and feel only in Russian. It makes no sense to compete in the Italian design with the Italians, if you were not born and did not grow up there, anyway, they (Italians) will be more succeed in Italian design. This is the law.
Really wonderful and harmonious things can be created by a designer who realize, study and fell his own culture, that surrounds him and that he absorbs from childhood.In my opinion, the mission for contemporary designer in Russia is creating our own modern Russian style, and its popularization in the world.
Our goal is to make Russian style recognizable, not by the standard stereotypical attributes (matryoshka, samovar, ushanka, etc.), but through rethinking, understanding and re-introducing our culture and our rich arts and crafts, architectural, ritual heritage.
Let's go back to the bar design...
My impressions of the bar interior - an abundance of appetizing red, a variety of textures and detail, which gives the movement, and at the same time, absolutely domestic, pacifying atmosphere. That is the uniqueness of the Simachev’s interior.
It is easy to bring a lot of different amusing knick-knacks from the whole world and beautifully place them in the interior. It is difficult to make this place cozy and comfortable, to make all these elements works together for the one general idea, for the same feelings.
In truth, I found interesting constructive solutions only in stairs, that dominates in the interior and connects the bar and the store. It is based on metal construction, and has wooden, upholstered in red fabric, stages, connected with glass risers on which the light is integrated.
Another object of my interest, which mentiones in every article about the bar, became counter with taps brought from England. Also there was one more interesting for me place: the dance floor area with built-in backlight and neighboring DJ rack.
